The UK government has confirmed that from 16th December 2021, the need to pass a special trailer test will be removed for drivers in England, Scotland and Wales. Anyone with a full driving licence will be able to tow a trailer and load up to a maximum gross weight of 3500Kg tow vehicle permitting. The law has been changed primarily due to the current shortage of HGV drivers and the need to create more testing capacity for new drivers.  You won’t need to send away your licence; the DVLA will update it automatically (according to the government website).

Potntially this will create additional demand for new trailers, so for help or advice please get in touch. To see the government announcement go to: https://bit.ly/towing_regs
